Minerals

Most people have heard about minerals – it’s the latest trend to add them to make up … but how on earth do they actually work? This month we’ll explain to you how one type of commonly used mineral – clay – how it works and why it’s so beneficial for your health.

WHITE CLAY

What’s it made of? 50% Mineral Silicon

Where does it come from? Predominantly from Western Australia

Hows it made? Mined, naturally sun dried, then crushed & sieved

How does it work?

Low pH: makes it ideal for sensitive, irritated, allergy prone and rosacea affected skin

Low density: forces water molecules from bodily fluids (i.e. sweat)  to evaporate from the skin via process of osmosis

Negatively charged: Absorbs positively charged toxins (i.e. oil, heavy metals, petrochemicals, sun radiation, viruses) from the skin via process of cation exchange

Antiseptic: Application of clay will force the environment on the skin to become unfavourable for bacterial growth

    • Once removed clay carries contaminants away from the skin with it

‘MINERAL’ MAKE UP

All mineral cosmetics are not created equal. The majority of ‘mineral’ cosmetics on the market are still heavily loaded with synthetic preservatives like Parabens, dyes, fake colours and fillers which may be harmful to your skin and health.

HOW TO CHOOSE

When choosing a mineral make up always read the ingredients and double check that there are no toxic ingredients, such as talc, dyes and mineral oils also hiding in the bottle. These nasties may counter health benefits of minerals.

WE LOVE: ELUSYION’S MINERAL MAKE UP

Elusyion Mineral Cosmetics are free of synthetic dyes, paraben preservatives and irritants and use all-natural ingredients. This means water purified, jet milled, pharmaceutical grade minerals and pigments, as well as a very high percentage of certified organic oils, butter and botanicals in our liquid lines.
